Hardware-recycling
Cracking the myth that you need expensive new computers to surf the web or write a document, PUSCII runs completely on recycled hardware. Have a look at our setup, if you're interested.
If you're feeling generous, have a look at our wish list.
Together with our co-inhabitants, the freeshop, we also run a hardware-recycling project. Basically a big pile of unused hardware, waiting for someone to turn it back to "life". Just upgraded your computer and don't know what to do with all the spare parts? Please leave them here! If you need a monitor, printer, soundcard or just like to browse through obscure old hardware, feel free to drop by and take what you can make use of.
We have a special test table and tools behind the bar, so if you feel like putting all the bits and pieces that are lying around into a new computer, this is the place to do it. If you don't know much about computers, there's usually someone around to help out. Feel free to ask and see if you can walk out with your own Linux system.
Activist Web hosting, Email Lists and Email
PUSCII can host webspace and (activist) group websites using Drupal for free, if the cause is right. We can also provide email lists and personal email. We share our resources on a basis of affinity, so if you feel we have something in common, see the main page for our contact details.
Translations
Since lots of foreigners visit PUSCII, it is an ideal place for translating stuff. Here you find the results sofar:
- Stewardessen - German translation of a Dutch video from Deportation Class.
Open Radio
Several PUSCII volunteers are working on software for an open-content radiosystem. For details, see the website of the Open Radio Group.
Documents
Here you find a collection of our experiences with technical stuff @ puscii. Things we did which were a bit unusual have been documented here so other people can make use of it and otherwise, just about everything else that's worth documenting.
- Basic Linux training - the document which comes with the basic Linux course at Puscii.
- The Hacktic guide to lock picking (in Dutch), as used in the workshop:
- Lock Picking - part 1
- Lock Picking - part 2
- Lock Picking - part 3
- The MIT guide to Lock Picking - the classic document in English.
CDs
Not everyone has a CD-burner or a fast internet connection to download CD-images. We therefore provide a stock of free Ubuntu Linux CDs at the bar!
CDs are available for PC (Intel x86), 64-bit PC (AMD64) and PowerPC (Apple iBook and Powerbook, G4 and G5) architectures.
By request we can also make other CDs with other flavors of Linux, BSD or other free software on it. A donation to compensate the costs and some patience while waiting for the downloading and burning would be much appreciated ;-)
